News: 01/14/2007
I have accepted a position at the University of San Diego's (USD) Network and System Operations Department.

I am also applying to USD to start on a BA in Computer Sciences (CS) Major.

GROWING UP

I was born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. Growing up, I always was attracted to all things interesting and technical in nature. Most of my life I have been involved with photography, computers, and technology. I remember my first computer was a self-built Heathkit H80, followed by the TRS-80 Personal Computer, and ATARI 800. But at the time my real love was photography, due to its accessibility and the personal satisfaction involved. My photography obsession started with a Pentax 1000 and has continued to this day after many cameras and thousands of photographs. During high school I spent a large part of my free time working at our school television station (SVTV) doing technical control and programming.

MILITARY

Before I knew it I was serving in the US NAVY, where I had a career full of challenge, responsibility, and consistent achievement. I completed several years of advanced training to become a submarine communicator and cryptographic technician. I qualified and received my dolphins aboard the USS Silversides (SSN-679) and stared my five-year tour aboard. After my tour of duty at sea I transferred to Naval Special Warfare Group One (NSWG-1) (1992), providing communications support of the US Navy Seals and US Special Forces. Driven to improve communications for the Navy Seals, I founded NSWG-1’s Communications RDT&E team and conceived and designed the NSWIXS (Naval Special Warfare Information Exchange Subsystem) (1994), a networked-based communications system which integrated network, tactical and strategic special warfare and submarine communications. I have operated aboard numerous U.S. submarines, ships, aircraft, and small craft.

POST MILITARY

After leaving the U.S. NAVY as a Radioman First Class Submarines (RM1(SS)), I was hired as a Communications Systems Engineer at California Microwave, Inc., Government Electronics Division (Woodland Hills, CA). During  summer of 1997, I supervised the opening of CMI’s new San Diego office and pursued marketing and research opportunities in the area. I have concentrated my engineering efforts in the areas of communication systems integration, communications R&D, Windows NT security, Information Security, Communications Security, Physical Security, Computer Security, TEMPEST, network integration, test & evaluation, and technical marketing. My responsibilities have included product line improvement, customer relations, technical training, operations, maintenance, and technical writing for the CGS-100 Message Switch, the Airforce’s STAMPS (Stand Alone Message Processing System), the Army's CAMPS (Consolidated ASAS Message Processing System), FMSS (Flyaway Message Switch System), and USSOCOM's SFBS (Special Forces Base Station). I designed several architectures for CMI’s CGS-400 DMS (Defense Message System) solution and participated in the concept and  design for the CMI Decision Agent (DA) product presently in use at the Pentagon Telecommunications Facility (PTC) and other locations. In 1998 I  started perusing personal endeavors as a communication systems consultant, a partner of Silicon Harbor Consultants internet hosting and development which is presently now Tim Weichel Consulting. In 1999 I took the position of branch manager of the Communications and Information technology Team (Commit) for Jaycor Inc. I provided technical support to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, San Diego, Naval Special Warfare Group One, and the Defense Advanced Research projects Agency. I continued my work with SPAWAR Systems Center, San Diego as the Global Hawk Network Administrator and Precision Engagement Center Lab Manager with SYS Technologies.  prior to that I was the Director, Systems Integration Programs at SYS Technologies. I am the designer and chief architect of the Metis Matrix Communicator (Metis Switch), a high-speed, secure, dynamic, accredited, and scaleable data/knowledge management communications appliance. As Metis Team Lead, I provided the team focus from the switch concept inception to design, development, deployment, and support. Customers supported by the Metis Switch include U.S. Air Force’s Distributed Common Ground System (DCGS), the Pentagon’s National Military Command Center (NMCC) Joint Staff, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s (NGA) Community Airborne Library Architecture (CALA), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC), and Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center’s (SSC-SD) Tactical Engineering Analysis Lab (TEAL). In 2006 I joined Telos/Xacta as an Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) Engineer and Program Manager.
